Becoming Nothing

We were strangers in the same circles, aware of each other. We became curious. We found ourselves interested in the possibility of what might be. We became friends. We developed into play partners, lovers, intimately connected energies. We were in love.

We were always something.

And now…

We are nothing.

To become nothing reduces everything we had, everything we felt, everything we experienced to that same nothingness.

When there are no words to document the life you shared, no photos to chronicle the moments of that life, when every connection is severed and every memory left in a hill of smoldering ashes, you become nothing…

I’ve never been good at becoming nothing.
